Henry Higgins, a professor of phonetics, discovers Eliza Doolittle, a homeless, Harlem girl and transforms her into a high-class woman. Eliza forgoes a relationship with Freddie Hill, who is in love with her, and must choose between a platonic existence with Higgins or a life on her own.
