Synopsis
Together again after their award-winning romp in both the picture book and stage versions of Too Many Frogs!, Froggie and Rabbit eagerly prepare for the arrival of guestsGoose, Gander and especially baby Gosling. "I can't wait!" Froggie croaks in his excitement to meet Gosling, but Rabbit assures him they have much to do in the hours before the guests arrive. Indeed, there is spinach salad and carrot cake to prepare, a perfectly pleasant picnic spot to discover, books and flowers to gather and bubble baths to take, all accompanied by songs set to Ric Averill's charming music. Soon enough the goosey family comes knocking at his door, but Froggie's enthusiastic greeting terrifies Gosling, who launches into a fit of nonstop honking. In turn, that frightens Froggie and sends him into hiding, and nothing Rabbit can say or do will bring him out. While the others take turns trying to calm the honking baby, Froggie is perfectly content to wait … and wait … and wait. While he waits, he hums. And then, he sings. And then, he dances. Lo and behold, a captivated Gosling quiets her honking to watch him, and their friendship finally begins. The visit culminates happily with a picnic, a story and a farewell lullaby. Here Comes Gosling is perfect for the very youngest theatergoers and their families, especially older siblings who will recognize the challenges presented by a new baby. The script is a fully interactive play, in which all of the children in the audience become part of the action, entering the world of the story to participate in everything from picking vegetables from Rabbit's garden to playing games with Froggie, Rabbit, Goose, Gander and Gosling at the picnic.
