Synopsis

Lord Duntarran's daughter is to be wed and, as a present, he is going to give her his best farm. Frank Muldoon sinks into a deep gloom as he knows, of course, that his farm is the one to be seized. But Sergeant Boyle, who is to serve the eviction notice, goes to the O'Shaughnessy farm instead. Frank is crushed. It's a matter of pride with him. How can anyone think that any other farm is better than his? Then Lord Duntarran's daughter arrives with some surprising news.

Customer Reviews

"Clever; shows how price can make us fools; characters are fun and interesting; great setting; we used it as a high school competition piece."
Review by Venice Lancaster, Star Valley High School, Afton, Wyo.
"My junior high students earned six individual awards with their performance. They enjoyed the humor of this simple but prideful Irish family angry about not being evicted, with a fear of being kidnapped in America."
Review by Robin Fuqua, Coldspring-Oakhurst C.I.S.D., Coldspring, Texas

Hints, Tips, and Tricks

"Learn the Irish accent from the beginning; accent is necessary to feel of show."
Tip by Venice Lancaster, Star Valley High School, Afton, Wyo.
"This play allows the director to involve more people if you are trying to build a program. Not only is the play fun but also historic. My actors learned a lot about the history and lifestyle of Ireland."
