Johnathan rips his britches as he and Toby sneak off to see a ballgame. Ducking for cover into Millie McIvor's dress shop, they convince Millie and impressionable young helper Lucy that the rip must be mended. While waiting in his under shorts, Johnathan is forced to dive for cover when stuffy old Mrs. Hornbuckle and her spry but lecherous husband drop in to see Millie's new dresses. In a hilarious hiding scene—done in slow motion to heighten the suspense—Toby slides under the table and Johnathan hops into a closet only to be discovered by Millie's worldly friend Jennie Gifford. The Hornbuckle's stalk out, much to Jennie's delight, making Millie realize that she is missing all the fun.
This play was great fun to perform. My students had a fun time with "Millie." The audience had a good time, too! "Millie" was fun, lighthearted, and very refreshing.
Wonderfully written, funny, a great play to produce.

This show was a blast to direct and my students enjoyed it as well. My cast was mostly first time middle school actors and they were able to handle this script. There was plenty of room for physical comedy as well. We placed second in our UIL district competition!
