Synopsis
The prince has brought his love, Hermione, to a strange place with high walls around it—it's a special place in which to settle a dispute that began in this kingdom years ago and has been renewed by the prince and his lady. The dispute concerns the origin of infidelity. Did it begin with a man or with a woman? To recreate the Garden-of-Eden beginning, two young women and two young men have been raised in isolation behind these high walls, and they are to meet for the first time, all of them entirely innocent. Then with Marivaux spirit, we proceed to the essence of La Dispute.
