Synopsis
Miss Havisham in Dickens' Great Expectations is one of the most fascinating characters in literature. This one-act focuses on her story—a jilted bride who shut herself away in her mysterious mansion—and now many years later invites young Pip to "come and play" with her beautiful and spoiled ward, Estella. Pip slowly learns the story of the mad Miss Havisham from her eccentric relatives while falling hopelessly in love with Estella. This strange tale is darkly comic and utterly fascinating as it weaves its web of intrigue and deception. An excellent opportunity for character acting with especially challenging roles for women.
