Nicholas A. Patricca

Nicholas A Patricca is professor emeritus of theatre at Loyola University Chicago; playwright in residence at Victory Gardens Theater, Chicago; artistic associate at Bailiwick Repertory, Chicago. He has been active in the Chicago theatre movement since the mid-1970s. He was a founding member and artistic director of Chicago New Plays, a playwrights collective, and is a founding member of the Chicago Alliance for Playwrights. He is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Oscar Wilde Award (for outstanding achievement in new writing for the theatre), Alexander S. Onassis Distinction Award, National Endowment for the Arts Playwriting Fellowship, the Cunningham Prize of DePaul University Chicago, Rockefeller development grant, CBS/Dramatist Guild development grant, Illinois Arts Council Fellowships and USIA and Chicago Artists Abroad artists exchange awards. Patricca holds a Ph.D. (1972) from the University of Chicago, is an active member of The Dramatists Guild, president of Chicago Network for Justice and Peace and a member of the Writers in Prison Committee of the San Miguel Mexico Chapter of International PEN.
