Authored by a new group of Walden Theatre young playwrights, this collection of monologues, scenes and 10-minute one-acts explores the decisions and realizations that today's adolescents and young adults make about themselves. Friendship, love, parents, alcoholism, and the trials of growing up are discussed frankly—ranging from the lighthearted to the serious. As a result, Choices proves to be a full and rich evening of entertainment. This playbook includes the following titles. ACT ONE: In Search of a Monologue Where the Road Divides Paying Customers We Can Stop Ourselves Things Change Double Bending Let's Go Krogering Shy Girl Switchblade No Problem The Legacy Anastasia Duncan Conrad Little Man Astronaut Monologue Found The What Do I Want ACT TWO: No Win Situation (formerly, Just a Bad Situation) Telephones The Purpose of the Moon
I would have the actors come out on stage one-by-one to say their lines for the very first scene. I would also look at the drawings in the back of the book as a "guide," not necessarily as something mandatory, but to give a general idea. Between each scene change, allow each actor about 7 seconds to change costume, depending on how many characters are casted in the play.
