Tommy Lee Johnston, writer, actor and director, has spent the last 30+ years working in Chicago. As resident playwright at the highly touted Redtwist Theatre, he has had the great pleasure of seeing five of his works performed on the stage. His highly acclaimed and Joseph Jefferson Recommended play Geezers made its world premiere at Redtwist in 2014. Aura garnered him a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for best new work in the 2009-2010 season at Redtwist. Other works include Borrowed Beats, which made its world premiere in 2022; Time Frame, which opened in 2008 and raised money to benefit the Autism Society of America; and Gifted, his highly acclaimed play about self-acceptance and bullying, continues to entertain, educate and encourage conversation in post-show Q and A to middle- and high-school students.
