Susan King grew up in a small town near Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. She moved to London, Ontario, in 1989 to attend the University of Western Ontario. King graduated university with a B.F.A. in 1994 and moved back to Kitchener-Waterloo to work and volunteer in local art galleries. She also worked for Clarica (now SunLife Financial) in pension administration. In 2001, she decided to return to school to become a teacher. She has been working as a teacher for the Waterloo Regional District school board for the past seven years. At her current school, St. Andrew's in Cambridge, Ontario, she is the visual arts teacher to grades 6, 7 and 8. She is also the drama club leader. Txt U Later is the first play King has written in collaboration with her students. She is currently working on another original play.
