Stephen Sachs is an award-winning playwright and director and the co-artistic director of the Fountain Theatre in Los Angeles. His play, Sweet Nothing in My Ear, won the 1997 California GovernorÕs Media Access Award for Theatre, was a finalist for the PEN West Literary Award for Drama and was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. It received its world premiere at the Fountain Theatre with subsequent productions at the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago and at Cleveland Signstage. The movie rights, for which Sachs has written the screenplay, have been optioned by Barwood Films. Other plays by Sachs seen under his direction in Los Angeles and San Francisco are MotherÕs Day, The Golden Gate (Best Play Award, Drama-Logue), The Baron in the Trees and Razkazy. His awards as director include the Best Director Award from Drama-Logue five years in a row, the L.A. Weekly Award for Best Production of the Year and the Best of the Year from the Los Angeles Times for two of his productions. Sachs is a member of The Dramatists Guild, PEN Center USA West and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
