Sara Wordsworth is a lyricist, librettist, writer, performer and teaching artist. Her work in New York theatre has been nominated for Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Off Broadway Alliance and Lucille Lortel Awards, and she is the recipient of BMI’s Jerry Harrington Award For Outstanding Creative Achievement in Musical Theatre, an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award and residencies at the Eugene O’Neill National Music Theater Conference and Collaborative Arts Project 21. Wordsworth is the cowriter/creator of In Transit, Broadway’s first a cappella musical (Circle in the Square Theatre, 2016; off-Broadway at Primary Stages, 2010) and coproducer of In Transit (Original Broadway Cast Recording) released by Hollywood Records. Other writing credits include Frozen, A Musical Spectacular and Beauty and the Beast for the Disney Cruise Line, High School Confidential (Dramatic Publishing), a collection of four 20-minute musicals titled Shortstack and the alternative rock musical Minnesota. She has also developed songs and content for various regional theatres, venues, educational institutions, recordings, publications and charities. Performances include work with the Roundabout Theatre Company, Walt Disney Animation Studios (Frozen feature film), Disney Creative Entertainment and many others. In addition to performing and writing, Wordsworth has served as a teaching artist for several colleges and universities. She sits on the Steering Committee for the Tony-honored BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity, the Dramatists Guild of America and is a BMI affiliate artist. She lives in New York City with her husband and young daughter.
