Robert Lanier received his bachelor's degree in music from California Baptist College in Riverside, Calif. After further theological study at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He went on to apprentice in acting at Actor's Theatre of Louisville. He joined the staff of Walden Theatre in 1990, where he served as playwright in residence and associate director. Besides The Fall of the House of Usher, his playwriting credits include Wakiash and the Sky Pole, A Mountain Between Us and a new adaptation of Kipling's The Jungle Book.
