- Paul Elliott
Writing for the stage has always been Paul Elliott's first love. His plays Legacy and Perspective (published by Samuel French) and Mind Games, The Door and Ledge, Ledger and the Legend (published by Dramatic Publishing) are produced all around the world. Elliott's play Ledge, Ledger and the Legend was voted one of the top 25 most-produced one-act plays in the last 25 years. To celebrate, a spectacular production directed by Paul Messinger was staged at the Lounge Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., to sold-out crowds. Elliott’s recent comedies, Exit Laughing and Making Sweet Tea and Other Secrets were AACT NewPlayFest winners and are available through Dramatic Publishing. His award-winning, dynamic comedy drama Finding the Burnett Heart completed its Hollywood premiere following a successful world premiere at the historic Detroit Repertory Theatre and a West Coast premiere at The Missing Piece Theatre in Burbank, Calif. Every production garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Gentle Passage, his emotionally charged look at the healing impact two dysfunctional people can have on each other's lives, was the flagship production of the 2012 Hollywood Fringe Festival and also received rave reviews from the Los Angeles press before winning Best Gay Play of 2014 at the Chicago Pride Film and Theatre Awards. Dula, Elliott's first musical, written with international recording star Jeanie Cunningham, received a staged reading in the summer of 2013 at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., before moving to a full workshop production in Atlantic City and becoming a TNT Pops! Playwriting Competition winner, premiering at the OhLook Performing Arts Center in Texas.
