Mayo Simon has written extensively for television, film and the stage. His short documentary, Why Man Creates, won a number of international prizes including an Academy Award for best short subject. His plays have been produced in many theaters in this country and in Europe. They include Walking to Waldheim and Happiness (Lincoln Center), L.A. Under Seige (Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles), A Rich Full Life (Los Angeles Theatre Center), These Men (Magic Theatre, San Francisco; Bush Theatre, London; Teatro Argot, Rome), Elaine's Daughter (Actors Theatre of Louisville, Philadelphia Theatre Company), The Old Lady's Guide to Survival (Actors Theatre of Louisville; Pittsburgh Public Theater; Lambs Club Theater, New York; Lyric Theatre, Belfast). His play, The Twilight Romance, opened at the Falcon Theatre in Los Angeles in February 2003 followed by Split at the Company Rep. His play Greek Holiday premiered at the Playwright's Theatre of New Jersey on May 2, 2003. His new book, The Audience & the Playwright (Applause Theatre & Cinema Books) appeared in July 2003.
