Leo P. Carusone (composer/arranger) has written the two-character musical biography Dorothy Parker: A Symptom Recital, which won the Festival of Emerging American Theatre Award and was produced at the Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis and the Shores Performing Arts Theater in Miami Shores, Fla. He was arranger for the original musical revue Definitely Doris: The Music of Doris Day, which was produced in Boston, London and Los Angeles. He also has written a ballet titled The Advent of the Miracle for the New Royal Ballet of York, which had its world premiere in Japan. Carusone has written numerous children's musicals that are produced yearly for Connecticut Children's Theatre. He also wrote all the vocal and musical arrangements for the new Nunsense, Nunset Boulevard, Nunsensations, Meshuggah-Nuns and Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical, now available on CD. He recently completed the score for a new musical titled Seneca Falls about the women's rights movement. As a musical director, he conducted George M and Jekyll and Hyde at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in New York. He has worked as musical director for many productions, such as Andrew Lloyd Webber's By Jeeves at the Meadow Brook Theatre in Rochester, Mich.; Cy Coleman's Little Me at the York Little Theatre in York, Pa.; the 20th all-star anniversary tour of Nunsense; the video of Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical starring Rue McClanahan; Nunsense A-Men in New York City; the TNN television performance of Sister Amnesia's Country Western Nunsense Jamboree with Vicki Lawrence; and the New York and Boston companies of Nunsense. Carusone has conducted and played Rent, Spring Awakening and Hairspray. He conducted Mel Brooks' The Producers; Yeston/Kopit's Phantom of the Opera; the Cats national tour; the national tour of Annie starring JoAnne Worley, Marcia Lewis and John Schuck; My Fair Lady with Jamie Farr; Chess with Willy Falk; and Sister Amnesia's Country Western Nunsense Jamboree starring Vicki Lawrence at Cherry County Playhouse in Traverse City, Mich. Carusone has also conducted for Starlight Musicals in Indianapolis, leading orchestras for Kiss Me Kate starring Judy Kaye; Carousel and Shenandoah starring John Raitt; I Do, I Do starring Lucie Arnaz and Laurence Luckinbill; and Student Prince starring David Eisler, to name a few. Carusone is currently a professor in the musical theatre department at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.
