Kristin Idaszak is a playwright, dramaturg and producer. Her play Second Skin received the Kennedy Center’s Paula Vogel Award in Playwriting and the Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award. As the winner of both of these awards, Idaszak was sent to the Sundance Theatre Lab to represent the Kennedy Center fellows as an observer. Her play Another Jungle received an honorable mention for The American Playwriting Foundation’s Relentless Award. She has received two Playwrights’ Center Jerome Fellowships and has received commissions from the Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Science & Technology Project and the Cleveland Play House. Idaszak was the Shank Playwright-in-Residence at the Goodman Theatre and was a member of the 2017-2018 Goodman Playwrights Unit. Her work has been produced or developed by the Goodman Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Pasadena Playhouse, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, Ensemble Studio Theatre, SPACE at Ryder Farm, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Renaissance Theaterworks and The Drama League, among others. Idaszak is also a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists and adjunct faculty at The Theatre School at DePaul University. She has been nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award and has received two honorable mentions on The Kilroys’ List. Idaszak is the co-founder and artistic director of Cloudgate Theatre, a company dedicated to telling fiercely theatrical stories through a queer feminist lens. Previously, she served as associate artistic director and literary manager of Caffeine Theatre and associate artistic director of Collaboraction Theatre Company. Idaszak earned her M.F.A. at the University of California, San Diego.
