José Rivera is the Obie Award-winning author of The House of Ramon Iglesia, The Promise, Each Day Dies with Sleep, Marisol, Giants Have Us in Their Books, Cloud Tectonics, Godstuff, The Street of the Sun, Sue–o, Maricela de la Luz Lights the World and Sonnets for an Old Century. He was a participant in the 1989 Sundance Institute workshop lead by Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez. His work, which has been seen internationally, has been generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, the New York State Council for the Arts, the Whiting Foundation, the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays and the Fulbright Commission. Besides Dramatic Publishing, Rivera's plays have been published by Viking Press, Mentor Books, Dramatists Play Service, Dramatics magazine, Samuel French, Broadway Play Publishing, American Theatre magazine, Theatre Communications Group and Smith & Kraus. Television credits include co-creating and producing the NBC series Eerie, Indiana, the pilot for Fox television's Goosebumps series, and "The House of Ramon Iglesia" for PBS's American Playhouse.
