David Eliet (aka Francis Elitzig) is a professional playwright, director and theatre educator. As a playwright he has been the recipient of many awards and grants for his writing, including an Edward F. Albee Playwriting Fellowship, a Kennedy Center New Visions/New Voices Award and an Alden B. Dow Center for Creativity & Enterprise Fellowship. He was the winner for the Americas of the BBC International Radio Playwriting Competition and was a participant in the Denver Center Theatre CompanyÕs TheatreFest 2001. He has received grants and commissions from Trinity College, Trinity Repertory, the Providence 350 Committee, the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, and the Cleveland Play House. His plays for young audiences, originally written for the Perishable Theatre in Providence, R.I., have been produced around the country, most notably by the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, the Cleveland Play House and Circle in the Square Theatre in New York City.
