Chris Mathews is a company member with The House Theatre of Chicago, where he performs, writes and does any little thing in between. With Jake Minton and Nathan Allen, he has written Dave DaVinci Saves the Universe (Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for New Work), The Sparrow (Joseph Jefferson Award for New Work) and Rose and the Rime. With Nathan Allen, he also co-authored The Hammer Trinity, an epic fantasy trilogy comprised of The Iron Stag King, The Crownless King and The Excelsior King. Elsewhere in Chicago, his work been seen at Lookingglass Theatre and The Actors Gymnasium. He is also an ensemble member with Barrel of Monkeys, an outreach program that teaches creative writing to students in Chicago public schools and performs the students' stories as short plays. He does motion capture work for Warner Bros. games within the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises (Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Reptile, Batman and Deathstroke). Originally from Garland, Texas, Mathews attended Garland High School and graduated from the theatre program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
