We allow customers to view a score before making the costly decision to purchase a cast quantity of scripts under the following conditions:
  • One perusal copy of the piano score may be examined by an organization possessing no more than a single reading script.
  • If you wish to peruse a score after you have purchased more than one copy of the playbook, a prepaid $100.00 music deposit is required. Only a check, money order, Visa or MasterCard can be accepted as a deposit.
  • Upon receipt, the piano score may be previewed free of charge for 10 days. (You are responsible for all shipping and handling charges.) Any perusal score not returned by the due date stated on your invoice will be subject to replacement and late fees of not less than $50.00.
  • Important: It is in your best interest to return all rental materials via insured means since you are responsible for any lost or unresturned scores. Services like U.P.S. and FedEx will cover some or all of the cost of lost packages.

Once you have made the decision to produce a musical, we want to help guarantee a successful and wonderful experience for your organization. Following these six steps will ensure that the rental process goes smoothly:

Step 1. Purchase the required number of playbooks
Step 2. Complete your royalty application
Step 3. Complete a rental materials form at least 10 weeks prior to your opening
Step 4. Pay your refundable deposit at least 10 weeks prior to your opening performance
Step 5. Pay your rental fees and performance royalties
Step 6. Return your rental items

These steps are explained in detail below. If you have any questions not answered by this information, please call our office, and one of our customer service representatives will be happy to help you.

Step 1. Purchase the required number of playbooks via website, phone, fax or mail.
  • We provide the cast requirements in our catalog and on the play synopsis page for every title. At a minimum, you will need to purchase at least half of the cast quantity to satisfy the requirements of a license.
  • If you are purchasing for an organization, invoicing is available. Personal purchases must be paid by check, money order, Visa or MasterCard. If your organization is placing an order on our website, you must have a registered account to be invoiced.
Step 2. Complete your royalty application available online or in any Dramatic Publishing catalog.
  • When you purchase your playbooks you will be asked to provide some basic performance information, which is used to notify the licensing department of your interest. This is not enough to secure rights. You must submit a royalty quotation application available in any Dramatic Publishing catalog or on our website (click here to complete an online application).
  • Once you have completed the application, we will process your request and, assuming the play for which you request rights is not restricted, you will receive a quote. If you have already purchased your scripts, you will receive your production license.
Step 3. Complete a rental materials form (music information sheet).
  • You can download a music information sheet for any of our musicals which will provides you with the following:

  •      Perusal materials available
Rental package available and the materials list
         Quantity of each item supplied
The fee associated with each rental package
All of the information you need to know about rentals, returns and requirements
  • Orders for rental items cannot be taken on our website at this time. You may phone in your order or send it by mail or fax.

Step 4. Pay your refundable music deposit.
The rental deposit for production scores or accompaniment cds is $100.00 and must be paid before any rental materials can be shipped. Once the deposit has been received, we will clear your music for shipment approximately 10 weeks prior to your opening performance. Deposits for rental items cannot be taken on our website at this time. You may phone in your deposit using a Visa or MasterCard or send a payment by mail or fax (purchase orders are not acceptable forms of deposit payments).

Step 5. Pay your royalty and music rental fees 10 days prior to opening.
We will invoice your organization for the music rental fee, postage and handling fees for shipping your rental materials and performance royalties. These fees must be paid in full 10 days prior to your opening performance. The refundable deposit cannot be applied prior to the music being returned, so please do not consider it part of the payment. Payments may be made by check or money order or may be phoned in and charge to your Visa or MasterCard.

Step 6. Return your rental items within two weeks of the close of your production
We realize that after the production is over, there is a tendancy to enjoy the a break from all of the work and excitement that went in to the rehearsals and production. However, returning your rental materials in a timely manner will prevent late fees, which we do not want to charge and no one wants to pay. So please, take the time necessary to collect all of the rental materials (via insured carrier) directly after your production and return them to our office.

A photocopy license is included with the package.
Damages are not assessed for lead sheets.
Only the cd must be returned at the end of the production.
The lead sheets must be destroyed.

Accompaniment CDs with vocal scores:
This package includes one CD and a full set of vocal scores (quantity varies per package).
Photocopying is not permissable.
Damages are assessed for vocal scores.
The CD and vocal scores must be returned at the end of the production.

It is the policy of Dramatic Publishing to send clean musical scores to all of our customers. We strongly discourage marking in any of our musical scores. Many products are available on the market that you can use to make notes to stick to a page and then easily remove. Musical scores damaged by ink, water, coffee, or just being rolled up and carried around carelessly are destroyed rather than being sent to other customers. The cost of replacing these scores is deducted from your deposit before it is refunded. Please make every effort to prevent damage to our musical scores.
It is in your best interest to return all rental materials via insured means since you are responsible for any lost, damaged or unreturned items. Services like U.P.S. and FedEx will cover some or all of the cost of lost or damaged packages.
