One of the fugitives briefly leaves the hideout and casts suspicion upon Marysia Pawlina. Nazi soldiers arrest, imprison, interrogate and beat her, but she refuses to admit the truth. As the Russian army advances, a Polish guard helps Marysia Pawlina escape.
