NARRATOR: Imagine you see a large wigwam made of birchbark. A brother and sister dwell there. But no ordinary brother and sister are they. He is a great hunter and is invisible to everyone … except to his sister who takes care of him. Legend says that any maiden who can see the hunter may marry him and share his greatness. Almost every young lady for miles and miles has tried, but so far no one can see him.
Narrator moves to the center.
Here is a large lake surrounded by a forest. I'm standing at the edge of the lake, and all around us rise tall trees and vast open skies above. (Moving to the right.) over here, on the other side of the lake, is another wigwam, not so large as the first. An old man whose wife died many years ago lives here with his three daughters. this is where our tale begins.
