Comedy. By Bill Gleason. Cast: 2m., 3w. "Tomorrow afternoon, at 1:14 p.m., the world as we know it will cease to exist." Or so says P. J. Bonner, a young working girl and amateur astronomer, who has her telescope fixed on the starry constellantions. According to her calculations, a gigantic meteor is streaking toward planet earth at 73,000 m.p.h. Nothing will survive the impact. P. J. has named the meteor Shirley, after her sister. With this terrible knowledge—this horrible burden—kept to herself, P. J. decides to go out with a clean slate. During the course of the evening, she invites her sister over to let her know that there are no hard feelings. She invites her parents over to let them know how much they really mean to her. She also invites her fiancé over in a wild attempt to get married before their time runs out (without letting him know that the earth is doomed). Will P. J. make up with her sister? Will her parents forgive her? Will she get married in time? Will earth survive? P. J. learns more about honesty than astronomy and you'll have a fun evening with this easily-staged play that tells you the story of P. J. and her meteor.
