LOUISE: In her 20s, professionally dressed.
MARY: In her 20s, professionally dressed.
DAVID: In his 40s, shabbily dressed.
SETTING: A spasely furnished room. A table with two chairs. A coffee pot and a few cups are on the table.
TIME: The present.
AT THE CURTAIN: LOUISE is seated at the table, sipping coffee. MARY is standing, staring offstage.
LOUISE. What is it?
MARY. Come here and see.
(LOUISE joins MARY and stares off for a short moment.)
LOUISE. Should we call the police?
MARY. I am the police.
LOUISE. Then cut him down.
(MARY exits quickly, LOUISE returns to table and sips cup. A thud is heard offstage. A moment later MARY re-enters, pushing DAVID ahead of her. Disoriented, DAVID falls to the floor.)
MARY. His eyes were about to pop out of his head.
LOUISE. Want a cup of coffee, David?
