Adapted by Tony Gray. From the York cycle of mystery plays. Cast: 14m., 14w. (flexible.) First written about 1340 A.D., this play has been performed every year since then. This version keeps all that is distinctive in the great York cycle. The climax of the play is at Herod's court where his crafty queen, courtiers and spoiled son plot with him to get the best of the Three Kings and trick them into revealing the birthplace of the Child. But an angel brings warning and there is a very joyful conclusion. Bare stage.
