The Sorcerer\'s Apprentice (Lippa)
The Sorcerer's Apprentice (Lippa)
By Louis Lippa.

Cast: 2m., 1w. (plus 4 or more children, either gender.) A sorcerer's lazy apprentice is commanded by his master to clean the shop while he is away, and if the shop isn't cleaned by the time he returns, exactly at midnight, the apprentice will be punished with 999 nightmares. The sorcerer leaves, and the apprentice decides to take a "five-minute" nap. When his conscience warns him that he doesn't have time, he shoos her away and nods off. Awakening just 10 minutes before midnight, the apprentice panics, and looks in the forbidden magic book to find the words that command a broom and mop to clean the shop. They get out of control, and the apprentice doesn't know how to stop them! The terrified student breaks the broom and mop into hundreds of pieces, but then each of the pieces becomes another broom and another mop. Desperately, the apprentice calls for the master. The sorcerer returns and restores order. After being scolded, the apprentice acknowledges learning an important lesson: "Don't fool around with powers you can't control." One int. set. Approximate Running Time: 45 minutes.
