Baker\'s Dozen
Baker's Dozen
Comedy. By Pat Cook.

Cast: 3m., 3w. In this hilarious story of the bond between two brothers, Jeffy and Jimmy Baker, we are taken back by the now-grown Jeff to look in on "the summer I learned not to take things...or people for granted...That was the summer I was thirteen." Jeff shows us that summer through conversations with the boy he was then and through his logbook. "Now this wasn't a diary. No, no. Men didn't keep diaries, they kept logbooks...you know, like Captain Ahab and Captain Nemo." Jeffy discovers girls that summer—"If there was a toss-up between basketball and girls, I didn't see any contest. I mean anybody could get a basketball." And, of course, older brother Jimmy is a star basketball player, that is until his swimming accident when he badly cuts his leg and his recovery is in question. Through the kind of cajoling and connection that is uniquely "brotherly," Jeff helps Jimmy pull through. In a tender moment as he fully realizes his brother's devotion, Jimmy tries to walk for the first time and asks for his younger brother's help—" Come on. Mother is always saying how we never do anything together!" One int. set.
