  2. My son/daughter is in one of your productions. May I videotape the performance to keep as a memento?
We would always like to give permission for parents to videotape a performance of their child. However, this is a contractual issue. Some authors/agents give us video rights and others retain them. If the author retains the video rights, we always ask permission if a production company or school wants to videotape a performance. Sometimes the author grants us permission to allow it and other times the author or agent does not. Usually it's because they are wary of unlicensed videotapes of performances that might cast the play in a bad light, or there may be some film licensing issues. If a play has been made into a movie, the rights holders may have released all video and cable rights to the film studio and therefore are under obligation to deny any recording whatsoever of the material.

  3. When will my order be shipped?
Get your online, fax or phone order to us before 2 p.m. Central time (M-F) and we'll usually send out your order the same day, often within the hour! Otherwise, it will ship out the next business day. We will notify you if there is a delay.

  4. Do you have any suggestions for middle-school actors; this is a difficult age for which to find appropriate titles.

In addition to the Middle-School listing as Target Age of Performers in our Show Finder search engine, the Classified Index at the back of our paper catalogue has a listing of titles suitable for this age group. Of course, you are the only one who can make the final determination, so we strongly encourage you to preview scripts before ordering a cast quantity.

  6. Do you have any plays or musicals that are suitable for elementary-school performers?

We are pleased to inform you that we will soon be adding Elementary School to the Performance Group feature of our website Show Finder search engine. In the meantime, many plays we have listed as suitable for middle-school performers may also work for younger actors.

  7. Are sound effects available in CD format?

We are currently in the process of converting from cassette tape to CD format. Many sound effects are already available as CDs.

  8. How can I learn approximate running times?

Look for the number of pages of dialogue listed following a synopsis. Figure one to one-and-one-half minutes per page, depending upon your actors. (For middle-school students, it could be less than one minute per page, as this age group tends to speak their lines very quickly.)

  9. Can I pay my invoice on-line?

We are currently investigating the possibility of electronic billing and hope to be able to offer this option in the near future.

  10. How can I submit photos and artwork from my production?
If you have any photographs/artwork from your production, we would like to see them for possible use in our catalog/website. Please include the title of the play or musical, the producing organization along with city and state, and the actors' names as they appear from left to right. If there are more than five actors pictured, names are not necessary. Receipt of the photos/artwork constitutes permission to use unless the photos are taken by a professional photographer, in which case you will need to secure permission for unlimited use from the photographer. Please note that photos/artwork mailed to us cannot be returned.

Any pictures sent via e-mail or disk must be IBM compatible. The preferred format is 300 dpi resolution, .tif, .tiff or .psd. If you have a slow connection, you may use 72 dpi resolution .gif or .jpg. However, any pictures received in this format are suitable for website display only, not for the catalog.

Thank you. We look forward to hearing from you.

  11. My school would like to videotape the performance to keep in the school library as an archive. Is this permissible?
This is a contractual issue. If the author gives us the rights, we can grant permission.

  12. What is the difference in the two versions of To Kill a Mockingbird?

In the original version, Scout appears as an adult to narrate the story. The language is milder and the descriptions less graphic. In the revised version, Scout does not appear as an adult and the language is more intense.
