Tina Lear has been writing music since she could put together a decent sentence. Trained early in classical piano, she started writing songs at age 14. As a professional singer/songwriter she produced three CDs which have received airplay on over 100 public, college and commercial radio stations nationwide. She has been featured at Seattle's Northwest Folklife, Austin's South by Southwest Film Festival and Conference (SXSW) and the Nashville New Music Conference. Although much of her professional career has focused exclusively on music, Lear's roots are in the theatre. Her grandfather was Ole Olsen of Olsen & Johnson, world-renowned vaudeville team of Hellzapoppin' fame. In 1999, she began collaborating with Elise Forier and writing music for the theater. Since then, the Lear/Forier team have completed three family musicals and are working on two more. In 2007, Lear received her M.F.A. in musical theatre writing from NYU (Tisch School of the Arts). She is a proud mother of three. She and her partner live on Long Island, New York, where we need more Trader Joes!
