Thomas' plays have been developed and produced at Sundance Institute (Park City, Utah), the Goodman Theatre (Chicago), City Theatre Company (Pittsburgh), Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Women's Project Theater, Page 73 Productions, Playwrights Horizons (New York City), The Lark (New York City), The Working Theater (New York City), Pillsbury House Theatre (Minneapolis), Mixed Blood Theatre, River Crosses River at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Penumbra Theatre (St. Paul, Minn.), Passage Theatre (Trenton, N.J.), The Playwrights Realm (New York City), New Federal Theatre (New York City), New Georges (New York City), The New Black Fest (New York City), Queens Theatre in the Park and others. She has been commissioned by South Coast Repertory Theatre, the inaugural Catalyst Collaborative at MIT with Central Square Theater, The Working Theatre, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, New York State Council on the Arts, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and Pillsbury House Theatre. Residencies and honors include: resident playwright at New Dramatists, 2009 MacDowell Fellow, Edgerton New Play Award, Sundance Theatre Lab Fellow, 2011 American Theatre Critics Association Osborn Award for best new play (When January Feels Like Summer), 2005 Theodore Ward Prize (My Secret Language of Wishes), 2003 runner-up Theodore Ward Prize (our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor)
