Grandma: Once upon a time there was a woman
During opening narration, actors make a fireplace with their bodies. Mother and two daughters, Allision and Gertrude, enter with Ashpet.
who had three daughters, but one was her stepchild. Everyone treated this girl mean. Ashpet had to do all the hard work.
They push Ashpet into the fireplace; Ashpet falls asleep.
They wouldn't buy her any pretty clothes or nothin'. Made her sleep right up against the fireplace and the ashes got all over her, so they called her Ashpet.
