Dinah, the eldest, decides they'd better find a husband for Mother so she'll have time to keep house. The others think what is needed is a big publicity break on her coming novel. That should put the family on easy street. Then the shots ring out! A murder has been committed next door. The kids see this as the needed publicity break. Dinah sees the handsome police lieutenant as the man for Mother! The danger is that he'll soon solve the mystery and then be off before he wakes up to what a prize she is! So they give him false steers and even shelter a suspect. They also enter the murder house to search for clues and then find that their own lives are in danger! An excellent "family" thriller.
