Drama. By Ruth and Charner Perry. Cast: 15m., 5w., flexible. This is a play for Christmas and for all seasons! It's about a young man, his Quaker mother, his girl and his friend. He as a soldier in Washington's army, one of the eleven thousand who struggled into Valley Forge, December 19th, 1777, exhausted, freezing, starving—six days before Christmas. The play presents—"the times that tried men's souls." Christmas is present in the play, not in traditional symbols, but as love: Washington's love of his country and of his men, a mother's love, and the love of a boy and girl. And most of all, the love of freedom, equaltity and justice.
