Farce. By Anne Coulter Martens. Cast: 6m., 7w. Vonnie and Nick get off to a late start on the scavenger hunt because Nick's been delayed by Mrs. Keating to answer for breaking her bird bath. Vonnie learns Nick had to take their admission fee for the coming dance to replace the bird bath: now only one thing can save them—to win the $10.00 treasure hunt! Frantically they study the scavenger list. While Mrs. Keating is arriving for a business meeting with Vonnie's dad, the kids sprint like mad to pick up their list and shortly they're bursting in again with a wheelbarrow of loot. Something blue? They snatch up Mrs. Keating's prized blue hat and Nick puts it on plus a suit of long underwear borrowed from a neighbor's clothesline.
Mrs. Keating spies her hat on Nick's head and their gabby neighbor recognizes her grandpa's underwear, also on Nick. Mrs. Keating first scoffs and then, unable to resist the excitement of the treasure hunt, she and the neighbor join in the final scramble for the prize. A happy play full of amusing lively action.
