Deborah Wicks La Puma is a composer, music director and performer. Her awards include the Jane Chambers Playwriting Award, the Robert M. Golden Aware, a National Endowment for the Arts New American Works grant, a Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding Musical Direction, a Silver Parent's Choice Award and two-time winner of the Actor's Playhouse National Children's Theatre Festival. She worked across the country at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, D.C.), the John Houston Studio Theatre (NYC), the Alliance Theatre (Atlanta), The Goodman Theatre (Chicago), Imagination Stage (Bethesda), Signature Theatre (Arlington), TheatreWorks (Hartford), TheatreWorks (Palo Alto), Barrington Stage Company (the Berkshires) and Michigan's Interlochen Center for the Arts. La Puma received her MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, her BA from Stanford University and studied folk music with Alfredo Lopez, musicologist at La Universidad de Baja California. A Mexican American with dual citizenship who speaks Spanish and Portuguese, her other musical works include a bilingual mass and two rock/jazz albums with the Brazilian band Turba Multa. She has three beautiful daughters who inspire her every day: Rosie, Julia and Cecilia.
