Gayle Hudson has worked in the field of children's and family theater many years as a teacher, director, playwright, actor and arts education administrator. She has served as theater arts director at Brooklyn College's Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts and Northern Westchester Center for the Arts in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. Her first play, Teddy Bear, was presented by St. Louis' MUNY Student Theater Project's Backstage/Onstage Series under the direction of Pamela Sterling. Gayle is a member of Actors Equity and has toured nationally with Boston's Chamber Repertory Theater and worked for the Berkshire Theater Festival under the direction of Josephine Abady. She has collaborated with young writers, composers and choreographers to create two musicals based on the creative writing of young people—Heartbeats and OUTLOUD! (what Girls Have to Say). Gayle wrote the book for the musical Winter Light (with music by Bobbe Bramson) which includes the song "Snowflakes" for which she is credited at co-lyricist. Gayle is the founder and director of the River Light Theatre in Westchester, New York. She is a 1975 graduate of the University of Washington's School of Drama Graduate Program in Children's Drama under the direction of Agnes Haaga and Geraldine Siks.
