Daniel Brenner

Daniel Silberman Brenner is a reconstructionist rabbi and a senior teaching fellow at the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership (CLAL) in New York City. He began his training as a playwright in 1987 creating comedy sketches for the ARK Repertory Theater in Madison, Wis., and WORT-Wisconsin Public Radio. Since then he has written and performed comedy at small theaters and clubs in the United States, England and Israel. Where's Your Stuff? and Meat were professionally produced by Philadelphia's Theatre Ariel. His work was also featured at the National Museum of Jewish History in Slavery to Freedom, a piece Rabbi Brenner co-wrote as part of the Black-Jewish Artist Collective. He has written two full-length plays, The Mystical Journey of Abraham Abulafia, a drama about the 13th-century Jewish mystic; and Faster, Rabbi, Drill! Drill!, a one-man comedy about spiritual leadership. Brenner lives in New York City with his wife, Lisa, and their sons, Jonah and Noam.
