Cherie Bennett often writes on teen themes. Searching for David's Heart began as a best-selling 1998 novel for Scholastic and has now gone through 10 printings. As an unpublished play, it won many playwriting awards; look for it to be a Disney Channel movie in the near future. A two-time Kennedy Center New Visions/New Voices biennial winner, Bennett's other plays for young people: Anne Frank & Me, John Lennon & Me, Zink and Cyra & Rocky are popular works in the Dramatic Publishing catalog. Bennett is an acclaimed young adult novelist. Her Life in the Fat Lane (Delacorte 1998, Dell 2001) is an "ALA Best Book for Young Adults," while her Anne Frank & Me (Putnam, 2001), written with her husband, Jeff Gottesfeld, was a 2002 IRA/CBC "Children's Choice" award-winner. Zink has been a feature title in Scholastic book fairs. She also writes a syndicated teen advice column, Hey, Cherie! for Copley News Service. Bennett and Gottesfeld currently reside in Los Angeles, where they were part of the inaugural writing staff for the WB television drama Smallville and are completing their next Random House novel, A Heart Divided (Random House, 2004). They are the parents of one son. Visit her at www.cheriebennett.com, or send Cherie an e-mail.
