Flora B. Atkin's children's plays are based on folklore and include music and dance as well as puppetry, mime and audience participation. Atkin has worked with young performers throughout her career and was a founding director of the Creative Arts Day Camp at the Jewish Community Center in Washington, D.C.as well as In-School Players at Adventure Theatre in Glen Echo, Md. She has taught and lectured at several universities and other institutions, is a member of many professional associations and organizations, and has won numerous awards during her long and productive career.
