Carol Korty has written plays and helped others write theirs for years. She has served on theatre faculties at Antioch College, SUNY Brockport, University of Massachusetts, Boston University and Emerson College. In college settings she collaborated with students to develop original scripts, primarily for youth audiences. Her book, Writing Your Own Plays, grew out of her work with middle-school students. Over the years she assembled numerous companies with professional and/or student actors to tour to schools, community centers, theatres and businesses throughout the eastern United States. She and her husband Dale Macurdy, a visual artist, now live in Lamoine, Maine, where she is active in conservation work and community theatre, directing projects with adults and with children. Her play Cully's Gold, co-authored with Susa Wuorinen, draws heavily on her Down East roots. For more on Carol Korty, visit: usawrites4kids.drury.edu
