Hugo C. Martin's parents and older siblings came to the United States from Jalisco, Mexico, in 1963. Martin was born in Los Angeles and raised in northern California. He graduated from Pomona College and has been a journalist for 22 years. Pablo's Christmas is Hugo's first book. He lives in Pasadena, California, with his wife Tina and daughter Isabella.
