Stephen Karam received a 2006 Helen Hayes nomination for co-writing columbinus, which ran off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop in May 2006. His new play, Speech & Debate, premiered at the Brown/Trinity Playwrights Repertory Theatre. His plays have been produced/workshopped at the Roundabout Theatre Company, The Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, Round House Theatre, Perseverance Theatre and at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Karam is a winner of the NYMF Director's Choice Award, the Blank Theatre Company's Young Playwriting Competition, YPI's National Playwriting Competition and the Kennedy Center's ACTF Award for Musical Theatre. A graduate of Brown University, Karam is working on a commission from the Roundabout Theatre Company.
