Michael Pretasky is a composer and music director in the Twin Cities. He has written scores for numerous musicals such as Hurray for Diffendoofer Day, Captain Snap and the Children of Vinegar Lane, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. He has also composed underscoring for plays such as Our Town and The Miracle Worker. Pretasky studied composition and theory at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and holds both a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Minnesota. Outside of theatre, Pretasky works as a public school teacher in a suburb of Minneapolis. He lives with his wife, Sonja, and their son, Noah.
