Art Linkletter

Art Linkletter has been a television and radio star for more than 60 years and has performed in two of the longest-running shows in broadcast history: "House Party," which ran on daytime CBS-TV and radio for 25 years and "People Are Funny," which ran on nighttime NBC-TV and radio for 19 years. He has won two Emmy awards and received four Emmy nominations; has received a Grammy award; 10 honorary doctorate degrees; as well as other awards, honors and recognitions too numerous to list. It should be noted that, among those honors, is one in which he takes particular pride—Grandfather of the Year. Kids Say the Darndest Things—one of the top 14 bestsellers in American publishing history—and #1 for two consecutive years—is one of 23 books he has written. Linkletter's most recent honor, the National Humanities Medal, was given at the White House by President George W. Bush on February 27, 2003. His most recent national bestseller is Old Age Is Not for Sissies. Linkletter served on President Nixon's National Advisory Council for Drug Abuse Prevention; on the Presidential Commission to Improve Reading in the U.S., on President Reagan's Commission on Fitness and Physical Education; and was named ambassador to Australia and commissioner general to the 150th Australian Anniversary Celebration by President Reagan. Equally well known as a businessman, Linkletter has served on many boards of directors including MGM, Western Airlines, Kaiser Hospitals and the French Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease…to name but a few. As chairman of the board of Linkletter Enterprises, he oversees enterprises involved in the building and management of public storehouses, office buildings, cow-calf operations, real estate development, cattle and sheep stations in Australia and various oil enterprises around the world.
